Accommodations
Our rooms are located downstairs on the second
floor of the Riverwood Inn. They are located below our
bar/restaurant area. Each room has a private bath and
are reasonably priced, clean and usually quiet after the bar closes, except on nights when we
have bands which is either a Friday or Saturday. During the months of July and August, we do not have music due
to the incredible amounts of festivals and events that take up the
summer weekends. None of the rooms have phones or TV so they
are really not recommended for people with children. We do
have coffee in the rooms to help you start your day and we have late
checkouts. For motorcyclists, we have indoor locked bike
parking to protect your investments and we are a favorite stop for
two wheel riders. We are one of the few places where you can
stay, eat, drink, dance and go to bed without ever getting in your
car! Sometimes, that comes in handy! All our rooms are
non-smoking but most have outside access for those that do smoke.
The Riverwood Inn has existed
continuously as a roadhouse since 1937. Phillipsville was a
popular stop for 101 travelers and we think one of them stayed
behind in the form of a ghost. There have been many sightings
of him or her? in and about the halls, but he or she tends to stay up in the attic
area. The building is full of creaks and groans, thumps and
bumps and on the nights when we have live music, you may as well
stay upstairs and enjoy as you will not be able to sleep till the
last note.
We have five rooms ranging in price from $70 to
$85. We also have a room with four twins and a bath for a
group rate although we ask for a minimum of three bodies! With our great Mexican restaurant and full bar upstairs,
we are a one stop accommodation. Our front porch is a favorite
place for passing the warm summer evenings while sipping on your
favorite beverage. During the winter, put your cold feet up to
our roaring fire. We are at the beginning of the Avenue of
the Giants, home of Humboldt Redwoods State Park and the only place
in the world where you will find towering redwoods, some over 300
feet high and over 2000 years old. There are numerous hiking
trails through the park and we are also in close proximity to the
wild shores of Shelter Cove and the Lost Coast.
Phillipsville is located
just 6 miles north of Garberville. Take the
Phillipsville/Avenue of the Giants exit off 101 and just another 2
miles down the road will find you at our door.
